MULI BWANJI _ Malawi

What is the most interesting story about how you met some of your close friends??My best of all is how i met my very good friend Gwen Fareeda, she is like a sister to me now and i love her so much. Enough of my love confessions about Gwen and let me get back to how i met this very amazing lady, wife and a sweet mother to her three beautiful children.

I was working, i was a flight attendant as you all can tell from my brief bio down in the description. So on this very day i was on KQ102 from Nairobi to London. We were mid air and this lady, nice smile (pre corona so no masks on board) came down the aisle and wanted to use the bathroom and before she got into the bathroom she asked if she could have some extra wine when she gets off the washroom.

So i got her wine ready to hand it to her once she got out of the bathroom, as soon as she stepped out, i noticed her very nice brown knee high boots and i gave her a complement on her boots and we struck a conversation about so many things, things i can not remember now but we connected instantly.

We exchanged numbers, actually i wrote my number on a piece of paper, gave it to her and we kept tabs afer. She was in London for a short time, of which so many things transpired ( i lost my one and only brother, She got engaged to her now husband, Clem, and girl got pregnant with her second born) This story was actually about Malawi, but i love this lady so much i would talk about her the whole time, hahahaaa!

She later flew to Malawi months later before finally relocating to London to live with her then Fiance. It was at this time that she invited me to Malawi and i am always about new places and i packed up my suitcase ready for the adventure.

She picked me up at Chileka International Airport and we drove to her house. She had everything planned out, it was amazing. We went out for dinner and drinks with her friends and it was a very beautiful night

The next day she showed me around the city of Blantyre and later we went to Game Haven Lodge found within the very beautiful 500 Acre Chimwenya Game Park, It is part of the Shire Highlands and one of Malawi's last remaining indigenous Forests. It was just about 25 kilometres from Blantyre. A great countryside getaway within the city. We had lunch and drinks at the Ambrosia restaurant. After, we went home and got ready to go sample Blantyre's night life and let me tell you this people really know how to have fun.

The following day we drove to Lilongwe, 241 kilometer distance, an almost 5 hours drive. A very beautiful and serene ride, Malawi is truly beautiful.

That night we sampled Lilongwe's night life. Very fun and full of places to drink and have a good time.

The following morning we picked a friend, Nyanyiwe, and we drove to Sunbird Livingstonia Beach Hotel which is on the Salima Shores of Lake Malawi. We had a good Buffet lunch, did some snorkeling We later joined some friends for a beach party which was so much fun. We spent the night at one of the beautiful rooms of the Hotel.

The following day we did a lot of swimming before heading back to Lilongwe. We spent the night in Lilongwe and drove back to Blantyre the following day.

On our way back we met some boys selling some deep fried small birds and rats, yes fried rats on sticks..

We bought some fried birds not (not rats hahaa) on sticks and i was determined to try it out and to my surprise it was nice, tasted almost like chicken.

My last day in Blantyre, we spent it at the Sunbird Ku Chawe Hotel. The Ku Chawe inn is high up on the Zomba Plateau with beautiful commanding views of the valley below. It is a steep and winding road surrounded by very dense woodland. The brick built Hotel is a beautiful work of Art and a pleasant surprise as you turn the final corner. We had an amazing time with some lovely ladies. The outdoor eating area and the A' la Carte meal was the highlight of my trip. Due to the altitude, the outside gets cold really fast in the evenings, we sat in doors after, at the bar area and finished having our drinks before leaving for a nice dance and drinks at one of the clubs in Blantyre Town.

My vacation in Malawi was short, but nothing short of Amazing. I should have had more time to explore this beautiful Country, but the few days i had there i believe i saw enough to make me want to go back there some other day. To Gwen, Nya and everybody who made my stay there amazing, Thank you.

Malawi, i will be back!!
